Solar power payback calculator
Work out the payback time of solar panels: system cost vs annual electricity savings.
The payback of a solar system depends on production, the electricity price and how much of the output you use yourself. We assume the Estonian average annual yield of ~950 kWh per kWp (varies with location, tilt and orientation).
How is it calculated?
- Annual production = size × 950 kWh/kWp.
- Savings = self-consumed share × electricity price (not bought from the grid) + surplus × grid feed-in price.
- Payback time = system cost ÷ annual savings.
The result is indicative – actual production, the electricity price and self-consumption vary year to year. Work out your electricity cost with the electricity cost calculator.
