A livestock unit (LU) is a standard unit for comparing animal numbers, used in subsidies and environmental rules. Coefficients (Estonian Ministry of Agriculture): cattle over 24 months = 1, 6–24 months = 0.6, calf = 0.2, sheep/goat = 0.15, horse = 1, pig = 0.34, laying hen = 0.014, broiler = 0.007.
