Car CO₂ calculator

Emissions are calculated from fuel burned: a litre of petrol produces about 2.31 kg, diesel 2.68 kg and LPG 1.66 kg of CO₂ (tailpipe only; production adds ~20%). For comparison, a mature tree absorbs about 25 kg of CO₂ per year. The WLTP figure behind the car tax is measured in a standard cycle and may differ from real consumption.
